Islamic Ministry begins collecting Zakat al-Fitr

Islamic Ministry, on Saturday, began collecting Zakat al-Fitr for the Islamic year 1443.

Islamic Ministry has announced that collection of zakat will be open until April 29 (Ramadan 28).

FITR AL-ZAKAT:

  • Regular rice: MVR 12
  • Thailand white rice: MVR 77
  • Red rice: MVR 72
  • Basmati rice (regular): MVR 77
  • Basmati rice (high quality): MVR 90
  • Basmati rice (best quality): MVR 132
  • Regular flour: MVR 12
  • Wholemeal wheat flour: MVR 70

Zakat can be submitted online via several options; Dhiraagu’s DhiraaguPay, Ooredoo m-Faisaa, Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB)’s FaisaMobile, Bank of Maldives (BML)’s portal, FahiPay, and Finance Ministrt’s Bandeyri portal.

Islamic Ministry states zakat will be accepted from Bandeyri portal until the last day of Ramadan.

Special arrangements will be made at the Islamic Ministry’s hall on Sunday, April 3, to collect zakat from the elderly and people unfamiliar with online payment transactions.

The Islamic Ministry will be open for people who wish to submit their zakat in-person from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm on workdays.

Zakat collection arrangements outside Male’ City will be arranged by respective local councils.

Fitr al-Zakat per person is the value of 2.4 kilos of the staple product the person has used on a regular basis throughout the year.
