Ex-STELCO MD Mughnee appointed State Minister for Environment

Former Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) Hassan Mughnee has been appointed State Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Technology by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. 

Whilst Mughnee has been appointed as Environment Ministry’s State Minister, former President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef has been appointed STELCO’s Managing Director.

Alongside Mughnee, there are six other State Ministers in the Environment Ministry at present. They are Ali Solih, Ahmed Mujthaba, Abdulla Naseer, Mohamed Shareef and Khadheeja Naseem. The salary of a State Minister is MVR 41,000.

When he served as the Managing Director of STELCO, Mughnee’s salary alongside allowances was MVR 98,000.

Mughnee holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management and Marketing from HELP University College, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and a Master of Business Administration from Brandies International Business School, Massachusetts, United States.

With the appointment of Mughnee, there are 30 individuals in political posts at the Environment Ministry.
