Police probe death threat against Male’ City Mayor Dr. Muizzu

Police have opened an investigation into a death threat made against Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. 

A police spokesperson said on Sunday that the case was filed with the police by Male’ City Council. 

Police are looking into the case, said the spokesperson. 

A city council official told Sun the threat was made via Facebook. 

Death threats, even those made via social media platforms, are investigated by police as serious crimes. Several people who made threats via their social media accounts have been penalized and dismissed from their jobs.
