Most arriving via jets to Maafaru International Airport are tourists who are headed to the resorts in Noonu Atoll. Most resorts near Maafaru International Airport are currently at full capacity.

Maafaru International Airport was developed with USD 60 million in funding from Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and is designed to accommodate Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircrafts. Its runway is 2,200-meters long and 40-meters wide. The airport also consists of a terminal and a lounge.
