Brazilian traveler arrested with cocaine worth MVR 94 million

A traveler from Brazil has been arrested from Maldives with drugs worth MVR 94 million. 

Maldives Customs identified the suspect as a 28-year-old Brazilian man who arrived in Maldives on a flight from Brazil on November 2. 

Customs officials found his behavior suspicious, and searched his luggage. 

The officials found drugs inside his luggage which tested positive for cocaine. 

Maldives Customs said that the drugs found weighed 18.857 kilograms. 

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be MVR 94 million. 

Both the suspect and the drugs have been transferred to the custody of police for a criminal investigation.
