Monitoring mechanisms at Fonadhoo lifted

Monitoring mechanisms in place at L. Fonadhoo in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 on the island has been lifted.

Fonadhoo was placed under monitoring mechanism on August 3 – subsequent to visitors to the island from Male’ City testing positive.

Fonadhoo Council has confirmed to Sun that the Health Protection Agency (HPA) had informed them of their decision to lift monitoring mechanisms on the island sometime last night.

They also noted that there were no active cases on the island at present whereas all the random samples which were taken from the island had returned negative.

Monitoring measures in islands at which there is a community spread will get lifted when the majority of the number of random samples taken from the island comes back negative.

At present, there are eight islands under monitoring mechanisms. They are:

• R. Dhuvaafaru
• K. Kaashidhoo
• M. Kolhufushi
• Sh. Feevah
• HA. Thakandhoo
• Dh. Kudahuvadhoo
• AA. Himendhoo
• Th. Hirilandhoo
