HPA releases Dhidhdhoo from monitoring, but orders more testing

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revoked the monitoring measures imposed in HA. Dhidhdhoo due to an outbreak of COVID-19.

Dhidhdhoo Council president Abdulla Rasheed told Sun on Wednesday morning that HPA lifted the monitoring status will certain conditions.

“They said the conditions were that people travelling out of the island must be tested until 60 percent of the island’s population is vaccinated, and that random samples must be taken from five percent of the population within seven days. These were the two conditions,” he said.

Abdulla Rasheed said that it had been the third time for the island to be placed under monitoring since the pandemic began.

“This was the third time for Dhidhdhoo to be placed under monitoring,” he said. “There are 27 active cases at present.”

Rasheed said that all COVID-19 patients in the island are in stable condition.

Rasheed said that though Dhidhdhoo is now no longer under monitoring, the local authorities continue to maintain necessary preventive measures.
