Aishath Reesh Naseem has been crowned the winner of Dhi Foundation’s ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1445 Quran Competition’.
The award gala was held at HA. Dhidhdhoo on Friday night, with the top prizes handed out by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed.
While Reesh (Vattaru, Dhidhdhoo) won first place, Abdulla Zain (Shehenaee, Dhidhdhoo) placed second, and Mariyam Aza Adil (Jeezaa, Dhidhdhoo) placed third.
The competition’s winner, Reesh, is a student from the HA. Atoll Education Center. Developing a keen interest in Quran recitation at a young age, Reesh has competed in various Quran competitions. She placed seventh in the ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1443 Quran Competition’, and sixth in the ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1444 Quran Competition’, before sweeping the top prize this year.
She also competed in the 34th, 35th, and 36th National Quran Competition, as well as in various local and regional competitions.
The ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1445 Quran Competition’ began with 20 contestants. Five moved to the grand finale, with the last round held on Friday night. The contestant first recited Quran by the book, and then by heart, before they were quizzed about Tajwid and Islamic history.
According to the competition’s organizers, Middle Sports Club and HA. Atoll Council, the purposes of the competition are to foster love for reciting the Quran in the hearts of the people of the atoll, revive the art of reciting the Quran in accordance to Tajwid, and encourage the memorization of the Quran.
