Tourism Ministry said the guesthouse was penalized this Sunday.

Action against the guesthouse comes after the Tourism Ministry suspended the license of three guesthouses and cautioned three more for accommodating tourists from South Asia for an extended period of time last Saturday.

Tourism Ministry initiated inspections of guesthouses in the Maldivian capital on Friday, in response to reports of tourists being accommodated in violation of COVID-19 guidelines.

South Asian tourists are currently only allowed in resorts. And tourists travelling from South Asia are only allowed to transit in guesthouses in the greater Male’ region for maximum 48 hours.
