A COVID-19 patient has passed away in the island of Dh. Bandidhoo.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the individual was a 77-year old Maldivian male who passed away at 11:17 today.
This is the 175th death related to COVID-19 in the Maldives in total and the first death reported today.
Bandidhoo Health Center Manager Ahmed Naseem said that the individual was initially to be moved to the L. Gan COVID-19 facility, however, the family declined to move the patient since a family member was not allowed to travel to the facility to take care of the elderly person.
The patient's condition deteriorated last night and the family later permitted to move the patient to the facility, according to Naseem who added that the arrangements to move the patient in the afternoon had been made when he passed away.
