Tuesday, April 13 declared as first of Ramadan

The Islamic Ministry has announced that the holy month of Ramadan in the Maldives will be marked on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Islami Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir stated tonight as he was announcing the statement regarding the moon-sighting to mark the commencement of Ramadan, that no sightings of the moon were made in any area of the Maldives. 

The Minister stated that the last day of the Hijri month of Shaban would be tomorrow and that the first day of Ramadan would be on April 13. 

The Ministry advised the public to adhere to the teachings of Islam and fast in the month of the Ramadan.
