Islamic Ministry has declaration Monday, March 11th, as the first of this year’s Ramadan.

The Ministry announced the deflation following the ceremony held at Islamic Centre tonight to confirm the sighting of the moon.

As per the Ministry, Monday was declared the first of Ramadan following the confirmation of moon sighting in several Maldivian islands and some Islamic nations in accordance Sharia rules.

Therefore, with reference to the policies followed by the Maldives in confirming moon sighting, Islamic Ministry declared March 11 as the first day of this year’s Ramadan.

The policy for sighting the moon in the Maldives is to confirm whether anyone across the nation has sighted the moon or whether other Islamic nations have reported the sighting of the moon. If the moon is sighted, the next day will be declared the first of Ramadan.
