Gulf Air to resume direct flights to Maldives in December

Gulf Air, the flag carrier of Bahrain, is scheduled to resume direct flights to Maldives in December.

The airline has announced it will resume operations to and from the Velana International Airport (VIA) in Male’ with two weekly flights, starting from December 12.

The flights will be operated by the airline’s newest Airbus 321neoLR, which features 150 seats in economy class and 16 flat-bed seats in Falcon Gold class.

Gulf Air’s first flight to Maldives landed at VIA on October 27, 2019.

Maldives is the airline’s key boutique destination in the Indian Ocean.

Maldives reopened its borders on July 15 and is currently open for all tourists, provided they have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 96 hours before departure from their original destination.

Additional airlines from the Middle East operating to Maldives include; Emirates, flydubai, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways.

Maldives has recorded over 41,000 tourist arrivals since it reopened its borders.
