Maldivian has announced the repatriation of 198 Bangladeshi nationals.
The migrants departed from the Maldives to Bangladesh on a Maldivian flight. This the sixth flight by the national carrier to repatriate Bangladeshi nationals in the Maldives.
While Maldivian has conducted six repatriation flights, the government of Maldives has also chartered a flight from Bangladesh for the purpose on one occasion. The Bangladeshi government also conducted an evacuation flight using a military plane. Around 1,000 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated so far.

Most of the migrants being repatriated are undocumented individuals in the Maldives.
The government has estimated that there are around 63,000 undocumented Bangladeshi nationals in the Maldives. National Emergency Operations Center has stated that 5000 Bangladeshi nationals will be repatriated in a period of three months.
