The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that six more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Maldives.
The new cases mean that the Maldives has now confirmed 481 cases, and is now dangerously close to reaching 500 cases of the virus which has resulted in one death so far in the country.
The total number of cases confirmed today stands at 13. The positive cases confirmed today have been identified as seven Maldivians and six Bangladeshi nationals. Apart from one elderly woman aged 80, the remaining cases are all male. The clusters to which the cases have not yet been announced by the authorities.
The country confirmed 179 cases yesterday alone.
Apart from Male' City, cases have been identified in Manadhoo, Thakandhoo, Uligan, Thulusdhoo, Narudhoo, and Mliandhoo. 259 Bangladeshi nationals have been confirmed as positive for the virus while 152 Maldivians have also tested positive. 49 Indian nationals have also tested positive for the virus in the Maldives.
