The Health Protection Agency has just announced that a further two individuals have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the Maldives to 110.

HPA tweeted that the two individuals who tested positive are Maldivian nationals and are being moved to an isolation facility.

One of the two new cases has been assigned the Case number 26, after the authorities stated that the previous individual who is designated as a probable case, will no longer be counted as a positive or confirmed case, earlier tonight. The individual who is the probable case, tested positive upon the first test and later tested negative on two tests.

The first case of a community spread in the Maldives was identified on April 15, 2020, more than a month after the country confirmed the first case of the virus from a tourist in a resort.

More than a week after the first case, the capital has now confirmed 91 cases of the virus. Male' City currently has 217 locations under monitoring mechanisms. 189 people are in isolation while 1546 people are in quarantine.
