Islamic Ministry declares Friday as first day of Ramadan

Friday, April 24, 2020, has been declared as the first day the holy month of Ramadan in the Maldives.

The announcement was made by the Islamic Ministry tonight which stated that Friday will mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan since the moon was not visible to the Maldives tonight.

The ministry also stated that tomorrow will be the last day of the month of Sha'ban in the Islamic calendar.

Making the declaration, Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir noted that the moon was not visible for other Islamic nations as well.
