An individual in quarantine at the IGMH hospital has died.
In a news conference underway right now, the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) announced that the individual had tested negative for COVID-19 after arriving from India and had been in quarantine at IGMH. The Individual had been receiving treatment for other health complications.
Speaking in a news conference today, NEOC medical officer Dr. Moosa Muraad stated that the individual was being treated for other health issues and had not exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19.
“The individual was tested after being transferred to IGMH, and had tested negative.” Said the doctor.
A number of Maldivians in India had been evacuated by the government previously. Most of these locals had traveled for medical purposes. They were placed in a 14-day quarantine upon returning from India as is the same with other returnees. They would be released only after testing negative for COVID-19.
