National Emergency Operations Center and Government spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez has announced that the positive cases of Covid-19 in Male' Cty, included a pregnant woman and three children.
Mabrouq also stated that everyone who tested positive for the virus in the country was doing well and the pregnant woman's condition was being closely monitored.
A total of 14 cases had been identified in Male' City. Mabrouq said that the cases in Male' were distributed into three clusters. The three clusters are Patient 21, Patient 27 and Patient 28. The remainder of the cases had originated from these three cases.
Patient 21 is the first case to be identified in the capital and was tested positive for the virus after visiting a flu clinic. Patient 22, a two-year-old toddler was later tested positive for the virus. Patient 23, a contact of Patient 21 also tested positive for the virus. Patients 24, 25 and 26 who were all contacts of Patient 23 also tested positive for the virus.
Patient 27, the second cluster from Male' City, tested positive for the virus after visiting the flu clinic as well. Patient 29, Patient 30 and Patient 34 had later tested positive for the virus after contact with Patient 27. Patient 32 had also tested positive for the virus after coming into contact with Patient 30.
The third cluster in the Maldives, Patient 28 had also tested positive for the virus after consulting with a flu clinic. Patient 33 and Patient 31 were later tested positive after coming into contact with Patient 28.
The confirmed cases include a 2-year old 8-year old and a 15-year-old.
“They are all doing well. If their condition deteriorates, we will announce,” said Mabrouq.
Mabrouq also added that they are all being treated at the Farukolhufushi Isolation Center.
The Maldives has confirmed 34 cases of Covid-19 in the country. They include 14 from the capital. The whole country has been placed in lockdown due to the virus. 13 individuals have also recovered from the virus while three locals have also made re4coveries. Apart from the 14 cases in Male’ City, five locals that returned from abroad also tested positive for the virus. They are four locals that returned from the UK and one from the Philippines.
