Two resorts in the Maldives have been placed under monitoring mechanisms after a tourist that visited both the resorts tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
The two resorts were identified by the authorities as Bodufushi Resort and Joali Maldives.
The individual tested positive for the virus after departing from the Maldives.
Health Protection Agency stated that contact tracing for the individual was now underway and the two resorts were placed under monitoring mechanisms.
Four individuals have so far tested positive for the virus after departing from the Maldives. They are an Italian national who departed after staying in Kuredu Island Resort, two Italian nationals who had stayed on a safari and departed after completing their quarantine periods, and former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
A criminal investigation was initiated by the Police into the case of the first tourist in Kuredu.
