EC extends application deadline for elections monitors

Elections Commission (EC) has extended the application deadline for those who wish to work as monitors or observers in the upcoming local council elections and women’s development committee elections.

EC, on Wednesday, announced that the application deadline for both monitors and observes had been extended to 3 pm on Thursday, March 5.

The original application deadline had been Monday, March 2.

Both the local council elections and women’s development committee elections will be held together, on April 4.

EC recently announced that it was still short of over 2,000 electoral officials, and had removed its previous restriction on members of political parties from operating as electoral officials.

It has also increased the allowance paid to electoral officials.
