Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched a major online campaign in collaboration with TripAdvisor to promote Maldives in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Russia, India and China.
According to MMPRC, the campaign will last six months and will award Maldives full visibility on the TripAdvisor website to the four target markets - which are among the top source markets for the Maldivian tourism industry.
It expects the campaign to maximize destination presence and promote Maldives.
“Further, through the campaign we are able to inspire, influence, remain top of the consumer’s mind and drive conversion to deliver true incremental revenue,” wrote MMPRC in its statement announcing the launch of the campaign.
TripAdvisor is one of the largest “social travel” websites in the world, with over 315 million reviewers of hotels, restaurants, attractions and other travel-related businesses across the world.
MMPRC reports it has carried out 17 joint campaigns throughout this year as part of its marketing efforts to promote Maldives as a tourist destination.
It’s marketing efforts this year underwent an expansion from traditional marketing activities such as trade fairs, roadshows and familiarization to online and digital platforms in order to gain further presence.
Maldives achieved its 1.5 million tourist arrival target set for this year on November 24, and has set two million as a tentative target for 2020.
