President Yameen’s legal team has appealed the case of the former President, who was convicted for money laundering last Thursday.

He was found guilty of money laundering and sentenced to five years in prison and imposed a fine of USE five million by the Criminal Court. The news that the case would be appealed was broken by an opposition party, PNC leader and former MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla “Adhurey” at a news conference yesterday.

Adhurey stated that President Yameen’s lawyers had made two more requests while submitting the case for appeal. The requests were to postpone the sentence and release the former President on bail, according to Adhurey.
