Tourist drowns at Kuredu Island Resort

A tourist has drowned after venturing out to swim in the lagoon of Kuredu Island Resort located in Lh. Atoll.

The tourist has been identified by the police as a 69-year-old British woman.

The drowning accident took place this Sunday.

According to the police, the management of Kuredu Island Resort failed to inform the agency of the drowning accident before putting the tourist on a seaplane and transporting her to the Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale’.

Tree Top Hospital officials confirmed to police the tourist was already deceased when brought in to the hospital.

The case is under investigation by the police.
