Man who stabbed Alhan sentenced to 7 years in prison

Mohamed Naseem from Ulfa Manzil in S. Hithadhoo has been sentenced to seven years in prison for the knife attack on former lawmaker Alhan Fahmy.

The Criminal Court issued its ruling on Thursday, October 10.

It found that witness testimony and evidence proved Naseem guilty of the charge of inflicting bodily harm to another despite his continued denial.

He has been sentenced to five years in prison for inflicting bodily harm an another, and an additional two years in prison for using a sharp-edged weapon in the crime.

Alhan had been stabbed with a seven-inch knife while he sat at a table at the Breakwater Restaurant at Artificial Beach in Male’ along with a group of others on February 1, 2014.
