Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdulla has excused himself from the scheduled questioning session at the Parliament this Monday over an illness he contracted during his recent Hajj pilgrimage.

The questioning session, requested by Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir, had been the first item on the agenda at the Parliament this Monday.

Jabir has asked Imran for answers regarding measures taken by Home Ministry to ensure the coup d’etat of February 6, 2012 doesn’t take place, and the security measures imposed on police properties.

Imran, however, did not attend the Parliament to answer the questions.

Speaker of Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed announced the Parliament has received a letter from Imran informing them he was in poor health.

“The minister has sent me a letter. He says he is suffering from Hajj flu. That he is therefore unable to attend the session today,” said Nasheed.

Nasheed says Imran will be asked to attend the Parliament to answer the questions once he recovers from his illness.
