Two suspects arrested in a kidnapping case in Male’ City have been remanded to 10 days in jail.
The suspects have been identified by the police as a 19-year-old male and a 22-year-old male.
A police spokesperson reports the two suspects were remanded to 10 days in jail last Sunday.
“The Criminal Court, yesterday, granted 10 days to keep them detained at a facility determined by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the investigation,” said the spokesperson.
The Penal Code establishes holding a person detained without their consent for a specific period of time as a criminal offense, and is punishable by one to eight years in prison.
Kidnapping is also established by a criminal offense under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
