Five suspects who were arrested in a major police operation on Tuesday have been remanded to 15 days in jail.
The joint-operation by the Drug Enforcement Department, Drug Intelligence and Upper North Division had commenced seven days ago and ended with the arrest of five suspects and seizure of 6.023 kilos of drugs on Tuesday.
Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed (MC Hameed) has announced one of the suspects is a high-profile drug trafficker.
A police spokesperson reported to Sun this Wednesday that the Criminal Court ordered all five suspects to be remanded to 15 days in jail on Tuesday.
Sun has been informed the suspects had been under surveillance by the police from Thursday, July 25, onwards and were arrested from the Male’ City Jetty upon arrival to the city from another island on a speedboat.
