Maldives Police Service has launched a digital memorial to commemorate the police officers who lost their lives in line of duty.
The digital memorial was unveiled by Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdulla at the Police Memorial Day function this Tuesday.
The digital memorial on the Maldives Police Service website showcases the stories of police officers who lost their lives in line of duty, as well as memories of them shared by fellow officers and loved ones.
There are currently five officers displayed on the memorial.
Police Sergeant Martyr Adam Haleem was killed in a stabbing in 2012 while trying to apprehend a convicted felon who was violating the terms of his house arrest.
Police Corporal Martyr Misbah Abdulla was killed in 2013 during an intentional high speed traffic collision while on traffic patrol.
Police Corporal Martyr Ahmed Wifaag lost his life while undergoing the police recruitment training course in 2018.
Police Constable Yousuf Zameer lost his life in a drowning accident en route to his duty at Dhoonidhoo in 2007.
Police Lance Corporal Ali Nazim lost his life in 2006 en route to a scene of a marine accident.
Maldives Police Service has also launched a physical memorial outside the Iskandharu Koshi located in Ameenee Magu of Male’ City.
