Police launch special op in Male’ over witness tampering in ongoing trial

The police launched a special operation in Male’ City on Thursday, which the agency said is in response to a suspected case of witness tampering.

The police, including members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, were photographed in the morning at a godown in Male’.

Following questions over the operation, a police spokesperson said the police were running an operation in Male’ in an investigation into a suspected case of tampering with witnesses in an ongoing trial.

The police declined to provide any details, including which specific trial the case is related to.

“The press will be provided updates as the operation progresses,” said the spokesperson.
