Maldives Customs Service has a key role to play in closing the doors to drug trafficking in Maldives, says Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Mariya made the remark at the flag-hoisting ceremony held to celebrate Customs’ 129th anniversary this Thursday.

In her speech, Mariya commended Customs for its hard work to inventory all imports into the country and charge duty for the imports.

She stressed that drugs posed one of the biggest challenges for the country, and that Customs holds a huge responsibility in closing all the doors to drug trafficking in Maldives.
