President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have departed on a state visit to Singapore.
The President’s Office reports that President Solih, First Lady Fazna, and an accompanying delegation - made up of several Cabinet ministers - left for Singapore this Saturday.
President’s Office reports that the purpose of the state visit is to strengthen the bilateral ties between Maldives and Singapore, and reinvigorate cooperation in various fields including security, trade, health, and education.
President is scheduled for individual meetings with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsein Loong.
Other events in the agenda includes attending a banquet hosted in his honor by Preesident Yacob, and a meeting with Maldivian nationals who reside in Singapore.
He is also scheduled to partake in site visits to Singapore’s ISD Counter-Terrorism Center, and the Pulau Semaku Landfill managed by Singapore’s National Environment Agency where he will be briefed on Singapore’s expertise in security and waste management.
