Price drop on domestic flights coming in two days

The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula, has said that they are working to bring down the price tickets for the domestic flight and the new prices are going to be announced within two days.

Reducing the price on domestic flights is one of the key pledges of the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the government has planned achieve it in the first 30 days of the presidency.

Speaking at a press conference at the Transport Ministry today, Minister Nahula said that 60 percent of the work on reducing the price on domestic flights have been completed and the Ministry’s work in the process has been completed.

Minister Nahula said that even though the Ministry has decided to bring down the prices, the hope is to work with other relevant institutes and companies bring the price even lower.

The Transport Minister said that even though the prices will be announced in two days, it would take about another two weeks for those prices to come into effect.

There are two domestic airlines in the country in the form of the national airline, Maldivian, and Villa Group’s Flyme. And Manta Air is preparing to start domestic flight operations in the Maldives.
