Former Minister of Defense, Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim has expressed interest in competing in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Speaking during an interview to VTV last Wednesday night, Nazim said he has no intention of leaving the field of politics.
“There’s a great chance you will see me competing in the upcoming parliamentary elections,” said Nazim.
Nazim said that though he has great interest in running for Parliament, he has not yet made a decision of the constituency he will be running for.
Nazim recently returned to Maldives after the Supreme Court ordered a stay on his 11-year sentence on a weapons charge.
He has joined the Jumhoory Party (JP) and has been appointed an advisor to the leader of JP and Speaker of Parliament, Qasim Ibrahim.
