Solih sworn in as 7th Maldivian President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been sworn in as the seventh President of the Republic of Maldives.

Solih’s inauguration was held at the Gaolhu National Stadium this Saturday evening.

The oath was administrated by Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi.

"I, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of Lh. Hinnavaru, Nooraaneeaage, hearby swear by Almighty Allah to honor the religion of Islam, protect the Constitution and of the Republic of Maldives and the rights of the Maldivian people, be faithful to Maldives, and remain steadfast in executing the duties and responsibilities of President of the Republic in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives and laws with honesty and integrity," swore Solih before a stadium packed with people.

High-level delegates in attendence at the inauguration include Indian PM Narendra Modi and former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
