Speaking in B. Dhonfanu, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed many things he will do for the island in his second term after reassuring the public that this government will fulfil all the pledges they have made.

Speaking at the political centre in Dhonfanu, President Solih said that when he visited the island in 2008 and again in 2013 after five years, he heard about the same complaints that had not been solved from the public.

These include erosion, the port not being finished, and the water and sewerage system not being laid.

He further said that even in 2018, 5 years after that, the needs of the public were not met.

“When I came back to this island in 2018 for the presidential election campaign, I was met with the same list of complaints from the public. There was no difference. 10 years and 2 governments between 2008 and 2018, and still the basic needs of the people have not been met, no changes made, and was left with no care,” President Solih said.

He said that while he is speaking of these things today, most of these projects have been finished and other ones are actively progressing, and that he feels very happy.

Projects to be implemented in Dhonfanu in the second term:

  • Building flats or row houses
  • Building 5 classrooms and a multipurpose hall
  • Repairing the docks
  • Accelerate the work of the football stadium
  • Building a volleyball court
  • Building and developing a community centre
  • Building and developing a children’s park

“I am sure the decision of the people of Dhonfanu will be based on the development of the whole country,” President Solih said.

In addition, he asked the people to give him a large majority of the votes from the island this time as well.

“God willing, those votes will not be in vain,” he said, highlighting that this government will be bringing progress to the island once more.
