Supreme Court annuls disqualification of Mustafa, Shah, Muhanma

Supreme Court has overruled the decision by Elections Commission to disqualify Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Mustafa, North Fuvahmulah MP Ali Shah and Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla (Muhanma) for floor crossing and reinstated him to the People's Majlis.

Supreme Court issued its decisions in the cases filed by Mustafa and Shah this Tuesday morning. And the decision is the case failed by Muhanma this Tuesday afternoon.

The court has so far annulled the disqualification of 11 of the 12 lawmakers. And is scheduled to issue verdicts in the case filed by one more lawmaker this Tuesday.

The court ruled that none of the conditions for disqualification under the Anti-Defection Act is applicable in any of the cases.

The court will issue its verdict on the cases filed by Hanimaadhoo MP Hussain Shahudhee later this Tuesday.
