The columns of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge has been set to be connected and completed next month.
Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took to Twitter today saying that the work of connecting two more columns will begin today. And by 9 July, all the columns will be connected and Male' and Hulhule' will be fully connected.
Early this month, the steel-box girder beams was started connecting to the main columns of the bridge.
With the bridge project on it's final phase, the Housing Minister said that the work is going on schedule along with the development of the roads around the bridge by the Housing Ministry.
A total of USD 300 million is being spent on the bridge project out of which USD 100 million is free aid from the Chinese government and USD 170 million comes as a loan from China with an interest rate of 2 percent. The Ministry of Finance and Treasury has said that the Maldivian government will be spending USD 30 million on the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge.
