Maldivians will be allowed entrance into Thailand without requiring a visa starting sometime within the next one-month period, says Maldivian ambassador to Thailand, Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel Nasheed).
Speaking in an exclusive interview to “Sun”, Nasheed said having Maldivians allowed into Thailand without visa is a huge achievement.
“In Sha Allah, visitors from Maldives to Thailand will be allowed entrance without visa within the next one month or so,” said Nasheed.
Nasheed also noted that the new Maldivian embassy opened in Thailand is a huge convenience to Maldivians who travel to Thailand for various purposes.
“The Maldivian embassy is situated close to the German embassy. The embassy will be a huge convenience to Maldivians,” said Nasheed.
The ambassador said that Thailand can offer multiple opportunities to Maldivians; including training opportunities for athletes.
Nasheed also appealed to Maldivians not to obstruct development and progress, and uphold Islamic values and Maldivian law no matter where they may be.
The Maldivian embassy in Thailand was established by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on January 30.
The embassy was established to introduce Maldives to the outside world (in compliance with the Maldivian foreign policy) and increase trade and investment between Maldives and Thailand, reports the President’s Office.
