Ministry starts accepting proceeds for Zakat al-Fitr

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has started accepting proceeds for Zakat al-Fitr 2018.

Collection of proceeds for Zakat al-Fitr began this Sunday at 10:30 am. The ministry has set up six counters inside the hall at the Islamic Center for the purpose.

The ministry says collection of proceeds for Zakat al-Fitr will continue until the 29th of Ramadan (June 10).

Zakat al-Fitr can also be submitted via SMS by both Ooredoo and Dhiraagu customers. And through Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) and Bank of Maldives (BML).

Each person must present 2.4 kilograms of rice, or its value in currency as Zakat al-Fitr.

Zakat collection points in Male’ area:

Male’ City: Islamic Center

Hulhumale’: Community Center

Vilimale’: Vilimale’ Unit of Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure

People living in Male’ City need to submit MVR 13 as Zakat if they use regular rice, MVR 43 as Zakat if they use Thailand rice, and MVR 81 if they use Basmati rice.

Zakar collection points in Addu City:

Hithadhoo: Addu City Unit, Ministry of Islamic Affairs

Maradhoo/Maradhoo-Feydhoo: Thadhreesul Quran, Maradhoo

Feydhoo: Land, Building and Municipal Services Department

Hulhudhoo/Meedhoo: Nasriyya Pre-school, Hulhudhoo

People living in Addu City need to submit MVR 13.50 as Zakat if they use regular rice, MVR 35 as Zakat if they use Thailand rice, and MVR 78 if they use Basmati rice.

Zakat collection points in Fuvahmulah City:

North, central and southern offices of Land, Building and Municipal Services Department

People living in Fuvahmulah City need to submit MVR 13 as Zakat if they use regular rice, MVR 42 as Zakat if they use Thailand rice, and MVR 72 if they use Basmati rice.

Zakat collection points in G. Dh. Thinadhoo:

Thinadhoo Media Center

People living in G. Dh. Thinadhoo need to submit MVR 12.50 as Zakat if they use regular rice, MVR 43 as Zakat if they use Thailand rice, and MVR 84 if they use Basmati rice.
