Renovation of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has begun, the Indian High Commission in Male’ has said.
Speaking at an event at the High Commission on Thursday, Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Rajeev Shahare said he hopes to see the renovation work completed soon.
A senior official from the Indian High Commission said today that it is impractical to reconstruct all sections simultaneously and thus, the renovation will be carried out in seperate phases. The first phase of the project began last week, he said.
IGMH renovation work is being carried out by Indian's state owned National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC Limited) and will cost $10 million.
