Man arrested for child molestation

A man has been arrested in Shaviyani Funadhoo for the repeated molestation and sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.

Police said the 47-year-old man was arrested under a court warrant on Wednesday. The girl is reported to have suffered the man’s abuse since 2009. She is currently under the care of Ministry of Health and Gender.

Shaviyani Funadhoo police station and the island’s Family and Child Protection Unit are investigating the case.
