Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has commissioned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to carry out harbour projects in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo and Gaafu Alif Dhevvadhoo.
Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu signed the projects at an event at the Ministry today. The project will see the construction of breakwaters outside the Thinadhoo harbour and at the docking areas in Dhevvadhoo harbour.
The projects, funded by OPEC Fund for National Development and the State budget, were handed to MTCC for a sum of $3.5 million (MVR 53.97 million). Work in Dhevvadhoo will be completed at the end of the year and the work in Thinadhoo is to conclude by May 2015.
“Dhevvadhoo harbour work will begin immediately. Work in Thinadhoo will start once the EIA (Environment Impact Assessment) is complete,” Housing Minister said.
