Prominent lawyer, Kulhudhuffushi-South MP Mohamed Nasheed has signed for the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
The signing took place at the PPM main office where party leader, former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was also in attendance.
After signing his membership form, Nasheed announced that he will stand for re-election on a PPM ticket for his current constituency in March and that he will support PPM in parliament, in addition to providing consultation as necessary.
He also urged Attorney General Mohamed Anil to join PPM and said he has worked closely with Anil when they served as partners at their law firm.
Nasheed left Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), a faction of which formed PPM, to compete as an independent candidate in 2009 and has remained an independent in parliament throughout the five year term.
