MBC chairman and Male

Chairman of the Maldives Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Ibrahim Manik and Male’ City Council Member Hassan Afeef (Jambu) have signed for the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

The signing took place at an event in PPM office main office this afternoon.

After the signing, MBC chairman Ibrahim Manik presented over 100 new membership forms to PPM leader, former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and said that despite him joining a political party, he will not resign from the public broadcaster’s board of directors.

Law governing MBC states that the public broadcasting company must be independent from political and financial influence.

Male’ City Councilor Hassan Afeef said that it was best to join the ruling party to provide the necessary service to the people.
