Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Husnu Al Suood on Thursday criticized the Supreme Court for reposting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s announcement regarding the introduction of a block grant for the judiciary on X.

The Supreme Court’s X handle quoted and reposted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s post on Thursday, praising the decision and appraising it would expedite the administration of justice.

Expressing concern, Husnu Al Suood also took to X, stating that the Supreme Court’s decision to laud the President on social media was against official rules and regulations.

He further asserted that the judiciary and the courts should communicate through proper channels instead of using social media platforms, adding that such actions undermine the integrity of the judiciary.

As a general rule, judges of the courts must maintain specific rules in communication. The courts also have stringent rules regarding providing information to the public.

Courts typically communicate by disclosing information on official websites and by providing information in the form of official statements on official accounts. The courts also have designated spokespersons.
