Ibrahim Shahid, formerly Deputy Managing Director of Regional Airports Company Ltd (RACL), has been transferred to Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) as its new Deputy Managing Director. MWSC welcomed him on their social media platforms.

Shahid's tenure as Deputy Managing Director of RACL spanned from December 31, 2023, until the recent transfer. Prior to his role at RACL, he served as the Head of the IT Department at Fenaka. He also holds a lecturing position at several colleges in the Maldives.

This transfer follows a government decision in September last year to merge RACL with Maldives Airports Company (MACL) as a cost-cutting measure, though this merger has not yet been finalized. Ahmed Mubeen, who was appointed MD of RACL in 2023, resigned late last month for undisclosed reasons. RACL was established in 2020 under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih with the objective of promoting commercialization and sustainable development of government-operated regional airports.

The past several weeks have seen various management changes within state-owned companies. Notably, Ali Zuhair, formerly Managing Director of Road Development Corporation (RDC), was appointed as the Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Additionally, former RDC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Asbah was transferred to HDC on Sunday.
