Two people injured in the collision between a speedboat and a dinghy near Lh. Madivaru Airport, including the captain of the dinghy, have been brought to Male’ for further treatment.
The two of them were brought to Male’ sometime last night.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)’s Spokesperson confirmed to Sun that the two individuals involved in the collision were brought in sometime last night, adding they are being treated in the ER.
The Spokesperson identified the individuals as a 41-year-old man and a 61-year-old man.
Police, in a message to the media on Tuesday night, said they received a report of a collision at sea involving a speedboat and a dinghy near Madivaru Airport at approximately 20:26pm.
Three people who were aboard the dinghy sustained injuries in the collision, following which they were treated at Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital.
Police said the dinghy was lost following the collision, and as such, is presumed to have sunk.
“Efforts to locate the dinghy have been unsuccessful so far,” the Police added.
According to a post on social media regarding the incident, the dinghy involved in the collision belongs to Lh. Hinnavaru while the speedboat belongs to Kanuhuraa Resort.
Speaking with Sun, Hinnavaru Council president Hassan Shafiu confirmed receiving information of a dinghy from the island being involved in a collision with a speedboat belonging to a resort.
