The governments of Maldives and Australia have held discussions on strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Maldivian Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Richard Marles MP on Monday morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, the Vice President and the Deputy Prime Minister explored ways to enhance defence cooperation and expand joint efforts in the tourism sector. They also emphasized their mutual commitment to environmental protection and tackling the challenges of climate change.
Concluding the meeting, the Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed their resolve to deepen diplomatic relations, boost bilateral cooperation, and promote strategic partnerships on shared priorities.
The Deputy Prime Minister arrived on an official visit to the Maldives last night. He was welcomed by Defense Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon upon his arrival.
