A young man from L. Maabaidhoo died on Saturday, after he crashed his motorcycle on the Laamu link road.
According to a police spokesperson, the accident was reported to the police at around 01:40 am Saturday. It involved a person who lost control of his motorcycle and crashed it around the bend into L. Maandhoo.
The motorcyclist, Ibrahim Nauzam, 30, Sooraj Villa, L. Maabaidhoo, was rushed to the Gan Regional Hospital.
Abdul Hannan Abdul Raheem, the CEO of Gan Regional Hospital, told Sun that Nauzam sustained multiple injuries in the accident, including fractured ribs.
He was pronounced dead at around 08:45 am.
The Laamu Link Road is a long causeway that runs through four islands of L. Atoll; Gan, Maandhoo, Kadhdhoo and Fonadhoo.
The accident is under investigation by the police.
